Rhoads & Sinon LLP Partner Tom French Returns From Military Duty in Afghanistan

Rhoads & Sinon LLP attorney Thomas A. French recently returned  from a tour of military duty in Afghanistan.  Mr. French is a reserve officer in the US Army Judge Advocate General Corps, who was called to active duty in June, Thomas French2005.  After receiving training at Ft. Benning, Georgia, he was assigned to the Combined Forces Command-Afghanistan, stationed  at Camp Eggers in Kabul. Camp Eggers is the home of Lt. General Karl Eikenberry, the Commander of all US forces in Afghanistan.

Mr. French’s duties included training soldiers in the rules of engagement governing the use of force in Afghanistan’s hostile fire environment. Part of this training involved participation in foot and mobile patrols and convoy operations.  When not training troops, Mr. French advised commanders on various issues ranging from  the law of war, to military justice issues, to contracting for supplies and services.  While in Afghanistan, Mr. French  traveled throughout the country, visiting such cities as Herat, Ghazni, Wardak and Bagram.  He also spent a week in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

Attorney French is a senior litigation partner with over twenty years experience handling complex litigation in the business, banking, fiduciary and construction areas.   Mr. French is a magna cum laude graduate of Duquesne University School of Law where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Duquesne Law Review.  He has served on the trial advocacy faculty of the Dickinson School of Law of the Pennsylvania State University, and as an adjunct professor of law at Widener University School of Law.  He has also lectured before the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants on various topics.
