Selected Product Liability Cases:

  1. Industrial crane (steel mill) - plaintiff was a paraplegic as the result of a fall from overhead crane.  Design defect/failure to warn case.  Pretrial demand $4 million.  Defense Judgment after two week jury trial.

  2. Garage door -  Plaintiff lost an eye attempting to repair a garage door.  Design defect, failure to warn, negligence case.  Settled after four days of jury trial.

  3. Mechanical personnel lift - Plaintiff suffered fractured vertebrae as the result of uncontrolled rapid descent while in personnel platform.  Settled after jury selection.

  4. Contaminated meat products - Forty-two plaintiffs, including the estate of a decedent in a wrongful death case sought damages for food contamination at meat processing facility.  Settled after mediation.

  5. Microwave oven -  Represented microwave oven manufacturer in defense of claims resulting from fire which destroyed home and killed an occupant.  Settled.

  6. Sawmill circular saw - Defended manufacturer against claim by plaintiff who lost right hand in industrial accident.  Design defect/failure to install safety guard/failure to warn case.  Defense judgment.

  7. Dump truck manufacturer -  Plaintiff contended the safety grating on steps failed to meet standards for design of  this vehicle, resulting in his fall and injury.  Settled.

  8. Articulating mining trucks - plaintiff claimed property damage and economic damage due to defective design and negligent remedial repairs.  All claims except warranty claims were dismissed on motion following completion of discovery.

  9. Parts manufacturing machine, Caterpillar plant - action by group of manufacturer’s employees stricken with cancer, for alleged chemical poisoning from machine hydraulic fluid and other chemicals alleged to be carcinogens.  Settled.

  10. Animal feed - represented animal feed producer against claims for injury and death to heard of dairy cattle allegedly resulting from defective feed.  Settled.
